Modern wind turbines use a large range of bearings in different applications. The development of larger wind turbines has increased the need for bearing reliability and manufacturing capability. Failures in the bearings have commonly been in the gearbox, generator and main shaft of the turbine, developments in the whole bearing system will be required to overcome these issues and adapt to the marine environment.
